1. Bled - Yugoslavia (discontinued)

One of the best known mountain resorts of Yugoslavia on the shores of Lake Bled. An Easter holiday with local rambles into the surrounding hills and mountains. Including trips to Venice, the Postojna Caves and Lipica.

2. Korcula and Dubrovnik (discontinued)

A March holiday on the Dalmatian coast. The island of Korcula and the historical port of Dubrovnik are included with trips to Mostar and Kotor.

3. In Search of Sagarmatha - Nepal

An October holiday with Ramblers'Holidays, based at Kathmandu, walking and sight-seeing in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding mountains, Pokhara, Royal National Chitwan Park, etc.
4. Andalucia - Classical Spain

A walking and sightseeing holiday in Italy with Ramblers' Holidays. Based the first week at the Medieval town of Perugia in Umbria. From here we visited Assisi, Gubbio, Todi and Lake Trasiemo. For the second week we were based at the walled city of Siena in Tuscany. From here we visited Florence, San Gimagnano and Monteriggioni.

Singapore, North Queensland (Cairns and the Barrier Reef) and the 'Red Centre' of Australia (Alice Springs and Ayers Rock).

Touring the Australian states of South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales, as well as Bangkok, the capital of Thailand.
9. Egypt and Sinai
Exploring and walking with Ramblers' Holidays visiting Cairo, Giza, Aswan, Abu Simbel, Luxor and Sinai ("In the footsteps of Moses").
10. Czechoslovakia (discontinued)
A touring holiday with Ramblers'Holidays - visiting Bratislava on the Danube, Brno the main town of Moravia; onto Prague and Marianbad. Travelling south to Southern Bohemia visiting/staying at Ceske Budejovice, Tabor and Cesky Krumlov.

11. Jordan and Syria - In the Footsteps of Moses, St Paul and Lawrence of Arabia

A sightseeing tour with Ramblers' Holidays. Starting at Amman, capital of Jordan, we toured the Dead Sea, Jerash and various desert castles, including the HQ of Lawrence of Arabia. Northwards to Damascus (Capital of Syria), Palmyra (Biblical Town Tadmor) in the Syrian desert made famous by queen Zenobia, the Krac Des Chevaliers (a castle associated with the crusaders) and Allepo. Then travelling to the extreme south of Jordan to visit 'The Rose Red City' of Petra and Wadi Rum, reputed to have the most fantastic desert-scape in the world.
12. Millionaires in Turkey
A holiday in Turkey based on the Mediterranean coast at Side. Travelling from Side, using public transport, we explored the beautiful seaside town of Alanya, the larger inland town of Manavget, with its adjacent waterfalls, and Aspendos for its famous Roman theatre. Then, travelling by coach, to the region of Cappadocia to see the underground cities and the 'landscapes like that of another planet'. Followed by a similar excursion to view Mother Nature's phenomenon of Pamukkale (the ancient city of Hieropolis).

13. Images of Singapore, Hong Kong and Bangkok (discontinued)

Singapore - 'A wander through a mosaic of cultures' - colonial, modern, China Town, the locations for "Tenko", infamous Changi prison, the renowned Orchard Road and Arab Street. Hong Kong - Kowloon, New Territories, Lantau Island and Harry Ramsden's. Bangkok - Capital of Thailand, city of exotic temples, chaotic traffic, noise and busy waterways.

14. It was a ‘Chile’ Summer.

Another "Ramblers" holiday in three areas of Chile. Firstly around Santiago, including Valparaiso, Vina Del Mar and the Andes mountains from Lo Valdes.

The second area - flying south to Puerto Montt for the Lake District and snow capped volcanoes.

The third area - flying further south to Punta Arenas,’ the most southerly town in the world’. Here we were walking in ‘a miniature Alaska of mountains-forest-fjord-lake-glacier scenery’.

15. The Land Beyond the Clouds

Another "Ramblers’ Experience" taking us through the heart of China and into Tibet.

It commences in Beijing (Peking), the capital of China. From here we follow a route flying south-west to Chengdu and then far west to Lhasa, the capital of Tibet.

We return to Chengdu to travel south to the province of Yunnan. Here we spend time in each of Kunming, Dali and Lijiang. Back in Beijing we walk the Great Wall, visit many other historic landmarks, cultural sights and relics, including The Forbidden City, The Ming Tombs and Tian An Men Square.

16. America's Grand Circle

The "Circle" is in South Western USA and passes through the states of Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Arizona.

The circular tour starts at Las Vegas and travels through some of the most outstanding countryside in the world.  It includes, amongst many other locations, Zion, Bryce and the GrandCanyons, Monument Valley and the Hoover Dam.  The circle is completed by returning to Las Vegas.

17. Riva Del Garda

Riva is a lakeside resort on Lake Garda in Italy, surrounded by superb mountain scenery.

Highlights include Tarbole to watch the watersports and the Tour D'Italia cycle race, Limone (a charming Italian village),Varone, for the spectacular waterfalls and gorge, Arco, for the walk up to the castle, Malcesine, and Monte Baldo (5600ft) for the breathtaking panorama across the Lake of the snow capped Alps, Molina di Ledro for the lake and the prehistoric dwellings (1700BC) and finally The Dolomites - the most striking mountain range in Europe.

 

 

Normally our slides are presented using twin projectors. Pauline presents the commentary whilst Hartley operates the projectors.  We charge £5 expenses and, if funds allow, we would accept a donation for the Ramblers' Holidays sponsored schools at Ghoripani in Nepal and also Romania.
